Details about Open House on Tuesday, August 29

The Pack is Back! Open House is on Tuesday, August 29 from 3-6pm. We are so excited to welcome our Wolves back for a new year. The energy is electric as students greet old friends, take time to decorate their lockers, and walk into their classrooms and meet their teachers for the first time! Here are a few tips and tricks to help make this event run smoothly:

• The parking lot will be crowded, so feel free to park on the grass in the front of the building.
• If you have younger kids, you are more than welcome to have them play on the playground or hang out at the Outdoor Classroom.
• This year we will continue our new tradition of hosting a cookout at the Outdoor Classroom. Hot dogs and snacks will be available for a free-will donation, and all proceeds go toward the NHI Best Buddies Club.
• It’s a busy night, so if you’d like to have an extended chat with your child’s teacher, please consider scheduling a time when you can both sit down and engage in a longer conversation.
• Don’t forget to stop by the cafeteria to check out all of the information on clubs, athletics, PTO and our new counseling services.

The office will be open if you need any assistance or need to complete any last-minute payments.

We are excited to see everyone on Tuesday night!

This Week at NHI (August 21-25)

Schedules and locker assignments were posted earlier today to Family Access. The office will be open from 7am-3pm all week, so please feel free to call if you have any questions or have trouble accessing this important information.

The highlight of this week is our 5^th Grade Orientation on Thursday! Details for our WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) Orientation Day are outlined below.

• Doors open at 8am and the event begins at 8:30am.
• You should plan to pick up your students at 11:30am.
• Students will be given the locks for their lockers, so they have the opportunity to bring them home and practice unlocking them before they move in at Open House on August 29.

This is a really fun event and one of our 6^th grade teachers, Mrs. Krahn, and our Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Barker, along with our 8^th grade leaders, have put in dozens of hours to make this event special for the newest members of the Pack!

Welcome Back to the 2017-2018 School Year!

Dear Nature Hill Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! It is our sincere hope that you had a wonderful summer and that your family is excited for the upcoming school year! Over the last few months, our custodians have cleaned every nook and cranny of our school, our teachers have participated in hours of training related to building their understanding of how to best support the academic needs of your child, and our office staff has been busy answering your registration questions, building schedules for each student, and getting ready for Open House. With all that, we are ready and excited to welcome you and your family to another school year!

As a reminder, school starts on Tuesday, September 5 at 7:30am. However, there is so much to do and so much information to share before we officially begin the school year! The monthly community update was sent to your email on the evening of August 10. The update includes the following important information:

• Details regarding the daily schedule and school year calendar
• A review of traffic patterns and bus routes
• The NHI communication plan
• Information about joining clubs, sports and other extracurricular activities
• Opportunities to join or support our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)  
• An introduction to all of the new staff members at NHI
• The ever important monthly outlook calendar highlighting all of the school-wide events between now and September 18.
